OUR OBJECTIVE
ICRT Brasil is based in Brasília, working to create a national network of researchers, institutions and companies that take responsibility over the social, economic and environmental impacts over the territory where they act, no matter the segment, the size or the volume of visitors the destination takes.
We are afiliated to the International Centre for Responsible Tourism - ICRT, which was established in 2002 as part of the legacy of the 1st International Conference on Responsible Tourism and the Cape Town Declaration. The ICRT is an independent organisation that has as directors Dr. Harold Goodwin, Dr. Xavier Font, John de Vial and Caroline Warbuton.
The ICRT’s structure is best understood as a network with a hub in the UK and nodes in a number of countries and regions. The members of the ICRT network share a common purpose in developing and promoting the concept of Responsible Tourism through advocacy, education, training and research.
The ICRTs endorse the concept of Responsible Tourism as defined in the Cape Town Declaration, and ensure that all activity is consistent with the spirit of the Declaration. Responsible Tourism cannot be reduced to the green agenda; in all its activities the triple bottom line and the ethic of the responsibility will be addressed.
WHAT
WE DO
CONSULTANCY
With professional experience in many of the tourism segments, we have reached efficient and positive results on social, economic and environmental impacts in the development of our business, protected areas planning, supply chain and promotion of management plans, altogether fundamental for the sustainability of the touristic activity.
QUALIFICATION
We believe that collaborative, critical professional and academic qualification is effective to make tourism more responsible, anywhere, in any context - if in a small inn or a hotel chain; in a small-scale attraction or a global touristic destination.
RESEARCH
We develop research in partnership with Brazilian and other international Universities. The academic connections, allied to the entrepreneurial initiatives and destination authorities provide scientific production that enables positive impacts in the national tourism activity.
ADVOCACY
We want to build a Brazilian network of researchers, institutions and companies that believe tourism can be an effective strategy to make places better to live and to visit.
TOURISM
CAN MAKE PLACES
BETTER
TO LIVE AND
TO VISIT.
